Rothman Orthopaedic Specialty Hospital is a single-specialty surgical hospital in Bensalem, Pennsylvania. Our hospital was developed by Rothman physicians to provide their patients high quality and patient-focused care. Our facility features 6 fully-equipped operating rooms and 24 in-patient rooms. We are equipped for joint replacements, orthopedic surgery, pain management and spine surgery, as well as sports medicine, foot and ankle, shoulder and elbow, and hand and wrist procedures. Rothman Orthopaedic Specialty Hospital offers patients a safe and comfortable environment to receive surgical care.

 

JOB SUMMARY:

The Director of Nursing report directly to CEO and is a member of the Hospital's Leadership Team. In this position the DON is responsible for the operation and oversight of Operating Room, Perioperative Departments, and Inpatient floor. This position is focused on the direction to ensure a delivery of high quality care that is centered around the needs of the patient.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • PA RN Licensure required
  • Bachelor's Degree from four-year college or university
  • Master's Degree in health-related field preferred
  • 8+ years' experience in Management of OR, Pre-op and PACU and In-Patient Departments
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission accreditation standards. and State of PA's regulatory guidelines.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, decision-making, conflict resolution and critical thinking abilities
  • Ability to determine appropriate course of action in complex patient situations
  • Demonstrate understanding of compliance with, and commitment to, patient quality and safety responsibilities, organization's policies, procedures and regulatory guidelines
  • Ability to manage multiple and simultaneous responsibilities and to prioritize workload
  • CNOR Certification required
  • BLS required

 RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Creates an environment that facilitates innovative patient care delivery with a focus on infection prevention and patient safety.
  • Ensures that an organizational structure is developed, implemented and maintained which supports quality, efficient and safe patient care while enhancing patient, physician and staff satisfaction.
  • Develops and Implements policies, procedures, standards and regulations for staff, patients, medical staff.
  • Sets priorities, develops goals or objectives; develops plans and actions, directs flow of work and delegates jobs to appropriate levels of staff.
  • Ensures that adequate, appropriately competent and qualified staff is available to meet patient care needs.
  • Leads initiatives resulting in enhanced physician, patient satisfaction and improved quality.
  • Responsible for oversight and validation of department budgets, maintaining financial accountability working with the CEO to address areas of concern within financially and clinically driven performance reports.
  • Ensures a program for initial and ongoing staff education is in place and providing quality services for all staff as defined within applicable and accepted professional standards.
  • Actively works to develop and maintain good working relationships with medical staff, other leadership within the organization and staff.
  •  Demonstrates the ability to take initiative and responsibility; communicates goals and objectives; recognizes contributions; and provides an example for others to follow.
  • In conjunction with other Directors defines the Hospital philosophy and assures it is integrated into the delivery of care on a daily basis by assuring all staff are informed and committed to that concept.
  • Ensures the efficient, economic and quality performance of assigned departments/areas of responsibility to support or provide quality health care.
  • Delegates functions appropriately encouraging staff to take ownership of those responsibilities.
  • Demonstrates the ability to establish performance expectations; monitor performance; provide feedback; take corrective action; provide coaching/training; and resolve departmental conflicts.
  • Demonstrates the ability to coordinate work across departmental lines; shares resources; and works with peers to reduce conflict, duplication or waste, build a climate of trust.
  • Collaboratively works with peers and others to set and achieve interdepartmental/organizational goals and resolve barriers to interdepartmental/organizational performance.
  • Active participation on committees as assigned.
